  • I have a wide range of interests; and volcanoes and earthquakes are one of them. This movie was like a modernized “Noah’s Ark” story in the Bible. Tears fell when I watched this movie in the cinema. I cried because countless lives were taken, many evidences of sacrificial love were shown, unity amidst diversity was tested, and God’s wrath was portrayed. As a Christian, I do believe that God does NOT punish people. So perhaps the reason why He allowed such calamity to hit Earth and all His creatures is because He wanted to rebuild a New World of people with lesser hunger for wealth and power; a world of people whose main priority is life itself; and a world ruled by goodness and innocence.

I have never reflected much on a movie until this one came out. This movie wasn’t just about science and natural calamities brought about by global warming. It was also about family, truth, and leadership. Although the visual effects in this film were a little too much, I thought the cinematography was superb! I also love how the script connected the stories of different people in this film; and how it revived the story of Noah’s ark in a modernized context.

My rating for this movie is 4 out of 4.
  • This is the modern day interpretation of Noah’s ark, only a little more exaggerated. This movie is more likely similar to the movie Titanic in a sense that greed is very much present in man. In our society, we cannot deny the fact that there is hierarchy. This is what happened in the movie. Only the rich and the powerful, mostly the greediest of all, can have access to the giant boat. No matter how brilliant you are in predicting the end of the world, if you have no money or influence, you are left to die (as in the case of the Indian scientist who first discovered the trending of the earth). It’s a sad fact but we have to live with it. Nonetheless, this movie also depicts man’s survival instincts. I wonder if there are other survivors who were not in the giant boat. I give 3 out of 4 stars for this movie.
